Picture yourself in the cockpit flying the B-25 Mitchell…the best-known American medium bomber of World War Two!
See what Jimmy Doolittle’s B25 crews saw, hear what they heard, snugly cradled between two great big Wright Cyclone twin-row engines that just kept going forever…. dragging them off the deck of the USS Hornet…taking them all the way to Tokyo, and beyond!
Old timers say that the only time you worry about a radial engine is when it isn’t throwing oil around, and it this DVD you can almost smell it!
The bomber featured in this documentary is a B-25J, operated by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, and we launch, not from the USS Hornet in mid-Pacific, but from Hamilton International Airport, near Lake Ontario, in Canada.
You’ll be right there, in the cockpit, for a complete flight from engine start to shutdown, using the same drills as B-25 Mitchell crews used in WW2.
You’ll be following in some famous footsteps as you accompany the crew chief and co-pilot as they perform the pre-flight checks and walk around. There are also some fascinating B-25 handling notes from Captain Andy Dobson.
The North American B-25 Mitchell is perhaps the best-known allied medium bomber of World War Two. It was named to honour General Billy Mitchell, a pioneer of military aviation in the United States, in particular the use of bombers against battleships.
A rugged, reliable aircraft, the B-25 saw service in almost every theatre, with several air forces, and was much loved by aircrews.
More than 10,000 B-25 Mitchell’s were built.
If you like round engines, you’ll love this DVD!
